GREETINGS TO ALL:
We thank GRANDFATHER FOR THE 2007 WBS POW WOW.
I thank all that helped by working, telling others, or just showing up.
Many people need to be thanked for the long hours that it takes to make the
powwow a good long remembered weekend.
A special thanks needs to go out to;
BILL SATORY - Blessing the ARBOR & having the SPIRIT FIRE. I was told the
Fire was a help to many that visited. For those that did not know about it I
am sorry for not making it known but IT will be burning this year on the
eastside of the grounds. Ted Fisher also watched the fire and was helped by
unknown others.
Jack Devers - worked long and hard trying to make vendors happy and
jumped in at times to make the powwow work.
Danny Aigner - Thanks for the ARBOR that was done in the proper way.
Danny also took time to teach the helpers the layout and the meaning behind
why things are done the way they are.
Danny Walker wanted to learn about arena directing so he got the chance.
Thanks to Martin Tall Horse and Wahali and other unknowns for making his
wish come true.
Brenda Crafton - worked hard to feed the powwow. She found all the bad
electric problems and learned how our kitchen works. The Lions Club will try
and correct this problem for this year. She had snacks for the auction and
B&G for breakfast. She is looking forward to feeding us this year hopefully
with no problems.
Jason & Shanon - for the Late Nite Auction & working the raffles.
Rey Fisher - who with many or by himself did a great job with the
grounds.
This year I hope to have more media coverage before the powwow. I have
done a spot on WMDH Radio & Gaston area had a paper to make the public aware
of the fun family event they can visit.
I hope to send out an update before the powwow if you have questions
call.
AT THE LIMA, OH powwow, Larry Grigsby set a standard I hope others
will follow.
There were a few children running wild -pushing people, causing
some disruption (the place was packed).
Larry announced that if the children were not controlled the family would
have to leave.
Out of control children can cause permanent problems. Causing someone to
fall, damage to vendors' displays, damage to dance regalia, and possible
injury to themselves.
Children have a lot of energy and need a chance to burn it off, but they
also need to be made aware of the harm they can cause to themselves and
others.
THEREFORE:
I will ask our security and vendors to watch for problems and we will
address them as needed. I hope this never happens.
No powwow wants to be remembered as the place where someone was injured
or property damaged. We try to promote powwows as a fun family event as it
should be. I hope it stays this way with no problems.
Questions of comments call me.
Hope to see you at the powwow.
James Fisher
